File disclosure via unsanitized remote handin path
Published Jan 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Autolab 2.9.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read server files through the remote handin endpoint. The local_submit endpoint passes the submit parameter to saveHandin without sanitizing or verifying that the resolved path remains inside the submission directory. Exploitation requires remote handin to be configured, a matching handin directory, and a registered email address; disclosed files become accessible through Handin History.
