Arbitrary code execution via unescaped menu content
Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Code injection in XWiki Platform before 13.10.8 and 14.0.0 through 14.4.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary scripts. Menu.MenuMacro renders unescaped macro content and parameters inside the menu, allowing injected Groovy, Python, or Velocity directives to reach dynamic evaluation. View rights on a document that invokes the commonly accessible menu macro are sufficient, and successful execution grants full access to the installation.
