CVE-2022-41933Network attack vector

Credential disclosure via plaintext password storage

Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

XWiki Platform 13.1RC1 through 14.4.2 allows remote authenticated users to expose passwords via the forgot-password reset flow. The reset handler stores the newly selected password as plaintext in the user document and its history instead of hashing it. Exploitation requires high-privilege access and user interaction with the reset feature; later database or data-leak access can disclose credentials, while the flaw itself does not modify data or interrupt service.
