Authenticated code execution via unescaped macro parameters
Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Eval injection in the icon picker macro in CryptPad XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server code. IconPickerMacro inserts attacker-controlled id and class parameters directly into JavaScript selectors, allowing nested Groovy, Python, or Velocity macros to escape the script context and run. View rights to a commonly accessible document containing the macro are sufficient, exposing the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the XWiki instance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
