Call monitoring via unprotected broadcast receiver
Published Nov 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Improper access control in Nextcloud Talk Android before 14.1.0 allows local users to monitor call-related broadcasts. CallActivity registers an unfiltered broadcast receiver without a private broadcast permission, allowing other apps to communicate with the receiver. Exploitation requires a malicious Android app on the same device and user interaction; exposed broadcasts reveal call activity and permit interference with call startup or media-permission requests.
