CVE-2022-41920Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file write via unsanitized archive paths

Published Nov 17, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Path traversal in duke-git Lancet before 1.3.4 and 2.0.0 through 2.1.9 allows attackers to write files via crafted ZIP entries. The fileutil.UnZip function joins each archive entry name to the destination path without first rejecting parent-directory traversal, so ../ segments escape the extraction directory. A consuming program must pass an attacker-controlled ZIP archive to UnZip; resulting writes occur with that program's filesystem permissions and can overwrite files outside the chosen destination.
