Authentication bypass via mismatched Assertion signature validation
Published Nov 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Improper authentication in CrewJam SAML before 0.4.9 allows remote attackers to bypass SAML login with multiple Assertion elements. The parser unmarshals one Assertion for authentication data while signature validation can succeed against a different Assertion in the same response. An unauthenticated attacker who can submit a crafted SAML response can impersonate a federated identity and obtain its application access.
