Process crash via malformed CompositeTensorVariant input
Published Nov 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Improper input validation in Google TensorFlow before 2.8.4, 2.9.3, and 2.10.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash a process via crafted tensor input. The tf.raw_ops.CompositeTensorVariantToComponents operation accepts an encoded value that is not a valid CompositeTensorVariant and then dereferences it, causing a segmentation fault. Exploitation requires access to an interface that invokes this operation and user interaction to supply the malformed tensor; the demonstrated impact is denial of service without confidentiality or integrity loss.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 2.10.0, < 2.10.1
