GPU workload crash via unchecked tensor rank
Published Nov 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Improper input validation in TensorFlow before 2.8.4, 2.9.0 through 2.9.2, and 2.10.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash GPU workloads. The GenerateBoundingBoxProposals GPU kernel reads dimensions from scores without first enforcing its required rank of four, leading to a floating-point exception. Exploitation requires GPU execution and user interaction with attacker-controlled tensor inputs; the reported consequence is limited to availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
