CVE-2022-41882

Code execution via unchecked local-edit token

Published Nov 11, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Code injection in Nextcloud Desktop 3.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute Windows scripts through a crafted nc://open/ link. The local-edit handler opened the synchronized file identified by the URI without first having the server validate a path-bound token. Exploitation requires a malicious shared file to be synced or exposed through the virtual filesystem and the user to click the link; other file types open in their default editor.
