CVE-2022-41861Network attack vector

Server crash via unchecked abinary mask length

Published Jan 17, 2023 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Denial of service in FreeRADIUS Server 0.0.1 through 3.0.25 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server via malformed abinary attributes. The print_abinary function trusts the embedded generic-filter length and iterates past the fixed mask and value arrays when formatting the attribute. Reachability requires a configured RADIUS client or home server within the circle of trust; end users cannot trigger it, and only service interruption results.
