CVE-2022-41853Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unrestricted Java method calls

Published Oct 6, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Unsafe reflection in HSQLDB before 2.7.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via untrusted SQL statements. The SQL/JRT routine resolver accepts attacker-selected class and method names and makes static methods from any class on the application classpath callable by default. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled SQL through Statement or PreparedStatement and, under the CNA assessment, low privileges and user interaction; successful calls execute with the database JVM's permissions.
