Remote code execution via unchecked plugin class loading
Published Sep 29, 2022 · Updated May 20, 2025
Code execution in Amazon AWS Redshift JDBC Driver before 2.1.0.8 allows remote authenticated users to run code through a crafted JDBC URL. ObjectFactory uses Class.forName to instantiate classes named by sslhostnameverifier, socketFactory, sslfactory, or sslpasswordcallback without first enforcing the expected plugin interface. Exploitation requires plugins, control of the JDBC URL, and user interaction; a loaded class executes with the Java application's privileges.
