Code execution via unrestricted Java SVG scripts
Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Code execution in Apache Batik 1.0 through 1.15 allows remote attackers to run untrusted Java code through a crafted SVG. DefaultScriptSecurity permits SVG_SCRIPT_TYPE_JAVA content to load an attacker-supplied JAR instead of rejecting Java scripts by default. Exploitation requires a Batik-consuming application to process attacker-controlled SVG content; the code runs within the application's existing JVM context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
