CVE-2022-41674

Code execution via wrapped MBSSID element length

Published Oct 13, 2022 · Updated May 15, 2025

Integer overflow in the Linux kernel before 5.19.16 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code via crafted WLAN frames. In cfg80211_update_notlisted_nontrans(), an 8-bit length wraps when two is added to a 255-byte MBSSID element, so a later memcpy writes 256 bytes beyond its allocation. The attacker must be within wireless range and able to inject frames; successful exploitation can crash the system or execute code in kernel context.
