CVE-2022-41658

Privilege escalation via insecure inherited permissions

Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025

Insecure inherited permissions in Intel VTune Profiler before 2023.0 allow local users to escalate privileges on the host. Intel identifies unsafe permission inheritance but does not disclose the affected file, directory, installer action, or permission-propagation path. Exploitation requires an authenticated local account, high-complexity conditions, and user interaction; success grants elevated privileges in the local security context.
