Production disruption and data compromise via unauthenticated DNC
Published Oct 28, 2022 · Updated Oct 13, 2025
Improper authentication in HEIDENHAIN TNC 640 NC software 340590 07 SP5 allows remote attackers to read or modify production data via DNC. The controller initializes DNC communication without authentication by default, accepting unauthenticated network access when DNC is enabled. A reachable DNC service is required; exploitation can disclose or alter production data and interrupt the production line.
