Fingerprint service disruption via attacker-controlled file content
Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated May 14, 2025
Memory-safety errors in the fingerprint TA in HarmonyOS 2.0 and EMUI 11.0.1 and 12.0.0 allow local users to disrupt fingerprint service. The trusted application mishandles attacker-controlled file content, triggering a heap overflow, out-of-bounds read, null dereference, or an unspecified related fault. Root permission and control of the processed file are required; successful exploitation leaves the fingerprint service operating abnormally.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
