Fingerprint service disruption via crafted file content
Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated May 14, 2025
Memory-safety flaws in Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 and EMUI 11.0.1 and 12.0.0 allow local users with root access to disrupt fingerprint service. Huawei identifies heap overflow, out-of-bounds read, and null-pointer faults in the fingerprint trusted application when it processes attacker-controlled file content. Exploitation requires root permission, and the documented consequence is abnormal fingerprint-service operation rather than code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
