Fingerprint service disruption via crafted file content
Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated May 14, 2025
Memory faults in the fingerprint TA in HarmonyOS 2.0 and EMUI 11.0.1 and 12.0.0 allow local users to disrupt fingerprint service. Huawei has not disclosed the affected function or validation error; controlled file content triggers a heap overflow, out-of-bounds read, or null-pointer dereference. Root permission and control of the processed file content are required, and exploitation makes the fingerprint service operate abnormally.
