CVE-2022-41576

Persistent program implantation via modifiable boot script

Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated May 14, 2025

Code injection in Huawei EMUI 11.0.1 and 12.0.0 and HarmonyOS 2.0 allows local users to implant persistent programs. The rphone module leaves its boot.sh initialization script modifiable by malicious programs, allowing attacker-supplied code to run during device startup. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and can establish persistent code on the device; no remote trigger is reported.
