Root command execution via sudo-enabled nmap scripts
Published Jan 7, 2025 · Updated Jan 8, 2025
Privilege escalation in EyesOfNetwork 5.3.11 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root via nmap. The default sudoers policy lets the web-server account invoke nmap as root, and nmap executes attacker-written NSE scripts with those privileges. Code execution as the web-server account is the gate; a crafted NSE script then grants total control of the server.
