Authenticated memory corruption via traceroute command overflow
Published Oct 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in setTracerouteCfg in TOTOLINK NR1800X 9.1.0u.6279_B20210910 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt process memory. The function processes an oversized command request parameter without enforcing a safe stack-buffer length, causing request data to overwrite adjacent stack memory. An authenticated management session is required, and the overwrite enables a process crash or control-flow corruption.
