Authenticated admin access via URL role bypass
Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 28, 2025
Incorrect access control in Teachers Record Management System using CodeIgniter 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to reach administrator data. The application accepts a lower-privileged user session when the URL is changed from the user controller to the admin controller, exposing the /Admin/dashboard.php functions without an authorization check. An authenticated account is required, and the resulting access permits reading and modifying user data rather than service interruption.
