CVE-2022-41426Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via leaked MP4 atom allocations

Published Oct 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Memory leak in Bento4 1.6.0-639 allows context-dependent attackers to exhaust memory by supplying a crafted MP4 file to mp4split. AP4_AtomFactory::CreateAtomFromStream retains allocations for parsed atoms and descriptors when the crafted atom tree leaves mp4split without a usable video track. Exploitation requires mp4split to process the supplied file; repeated processing can grow process memory until the application or hosting service is interrupted.
