Process crash via invalid fragment metadata dereference
Published Oct 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in Bento4 1.6.0-639 allows remote attackers to crash mp4decrypt through a crafted MP4 file. AP4_Processor::ProcessFragments reads through an invalid near-null address while processing the file's fragment data, causing a segmentation fault. The file must be passed to mp4decrypt by a user or automated workflow; published evidence demonstrates process termination but not code execution or data modification.
