Remote file inclusion via nonhalting URI validation
Published Sep 25, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025
Remote file inclusion in Dompdf before 2.0.1 allows remote attackers to load attacker-chosen font resources through @font-face rules. FontMetrics::registerFont records a warning after a font URI fails an allowed-protocol or resource-rule check, then continues processing it. The application must render attacker-controlled HTML or CSS; with PHP before 8.0 and a suitable PHAR gadget, the included file path enables code execution.
