Image tampering via exposed location updates

Improper image-location control in OpenStack Glance Queens through Zed allows remote authenticated users to substitute malicious image data. When show_multiple_locations is enabled on an end-user-facing API, an image owner can add an altered location and delete the original; shared copy-on-write consumers do not verify the replacement against Glance hashes. The attack requires an authenticated owner-controlled image and the exposed non-default location setting, and virtual machines built from the image can inherit attacker-modified content.
