Authenticated device-secret disclosure via default Read Access
Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
Improper access control in Northern.tech Mender 3.3.x before 3.3.2 and 3.4.x before 3.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to read device secrets. The default RBAC Read Access role authorizes API reads of device configuration data beyond necessary inventory, including cloud-integration credentials. Exploitation requires control of a default low-privileged account; custom roles with explicit permissions are not affected, and impact is limited to disclosure.
