CVE-2022-41316Network attack vector

Authentication bypass via unloaded certificate revocation list

Published Oct 12, 2022 · Updated May 15, 2025

Authentication bypass in HashiCorp Vault and Vault Enterprise 1.11.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to log in with revoked certificates. On startup, the TLS certificate authentication method fails to load an optionally configured CA revocation list into memory, so an intervening login is checked without it. A revoked client certificate and a server startup or cross-cluster invalidation are required; authentication succeeds until Vault retrieves the configured list.
