CVE-2022-41231Network attack vector

Configuration overwrite via API path traversal

Published Sep 21, 2022 · Updated May 28, 2025

Path traversal in Jenkins Build-Publisher Plugin 1.22 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite controller config.xml files. An HTTP API endpoint accepts a crafted file name and resolves it outside its intended directory, allowing creation or replacement of any config.xml on the controller. Item/Configure permission and user interaction are required, and exploitation alters Jenkins configuration data without directly reading files or executing code.
