Browser script execution via unescaped API responses
Published Sep 21, 2022 · Updated May 28, 2025
Stored XSS in Jenkins Anchore Container Image Scanner Plugin 1.0.24 and earlier allows attackers to execute script in a user's browser. The plugin stores Anchore engine policy-evaluation results with a job and renders API-provided content in the Anchore Report without escaping it. Exploitation requires control of Anchore engine API responses and a user to view the report, exposing data or actions available to that browser session.
