CVE-2022-41221Public exploit

Local file disclosure via external entity expansion

Published May 24, 2023 · Updated Jan 17, 2025

XXE in OpenText Archive Center Administration Client 21.2 and earlier allows local users to read host files through crafted XML imports. The Import Servers function parses uploaded XML with external-entity resolution enabled, retrieves an attacker-controlled DTD over HTTP, and expands a file URI into an outbound request. Access to the authenticated desktop client and interaction with the malicious file are required; exploitation discloses files, permits port scanning, or interrupts the local application.
