CVE-2022-41220Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory corruption via crafted Markdown file

Published Sep 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 9, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in md2roff 1.9 allows attackers to corrupt process memory by supplying a crafted Markdown file. Public records do not identify the affected function, destination buffer, or unchecked operation that writes beyond the stack allocation. The file must be processed by md2roff; the vendor disputes the security relevance because the utility is not intended to accept untrusted input, and public evidence establishes memory corruption but not code execution.
