Restricted file deletion via remote function path traversal
Published Nov 8, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025
Path traversal in SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP releases 700, 731, 740, 750, 789, and 804 allows remote authenticated users to delete restricted files. A remote-enabled function accepts an insufficiently validated file path and performs deletion outside its intended path restrictions. Exploitation requires high-level SAP privileges and permits destruction of protected application files, compromising application integrity and causing a service interruption.
