CVE-2022-4121Public exploit

Client crash via malformed IMAP STATUS response

Published Jan 17, 2023 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Null pointer dereference in LibEtPan's IMAP STATUS handling allows context-dependent attackers to crash a linked mail client. A malformed STATUS response leaves st_info_list null after a parse error, and mailimap_mailbox_data_status_free passes it to clist_foreach. The application must connect to an attacker-controlled or compromised IMAP server; exploitation terminates that client process without reported data disclosure or modification.
