Code execution via unchecked IV buffer copy
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated May 15, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer 9 allows remote attackers to execute code by supplying a crafted IV file. The IV parser copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without validating its length; SAP also reports reuse of a dangling pointer into overwritten memory. Exploitation requires a user to open untrusted .iv or .x3d content and runs attacker-controlled code in the Viewer process.
