Code execution via out-of-bounds IFF write
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer 9 allows remote attackers to execute code by inducing a user to open a crafted IFF file. The IFF parser writes crafted data past the end of an allocated buffer; SAP also reports a dangling pointer that can reference overwritten memory. Exploitation requires user interaction with an untrusted .iff or 2d.x3d file and runs code in the Viewer process context.
