Code execution via malformed Enhanced Metafile parsing
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9 allows attackers to execute code through a crafted Enhanced Metafile. The EMF parser mishandles .emf or emf.x3d content, causing a stack-based overflow or reuse of a dangling pointer into overwritten memory. Exploitation requires a user to open an untrusted file and runs code in that user's application context.
