Remote code execution via CATIA4 MODEL parsing
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Remote code execution in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9 allows remote attackers to execute code when a victim opens a manipulated CATIA4 MODEL file. CatiaTranslator.exe writes crafted MODEL data past an allocated buffer during parsing, corrupting memory and enabling execution in the application process. Exploitation requires user interaction to open the untrusted file; the resulting code runs with the victim process's privileges.
