Application crash via CATPart out-of-bounds read
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9 allows attackers to crash the application by opening a crafted CATPart file. CatiaTranslator.exe reads past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing crafted data in a CATIA5 Part (.catpart) file. A victim must open the untrusted file; SAP reports temporary unavailability until restart, while ZDI reports possible process-memory disclosure and use in a separate exploit chain.
