Stored XSS via nonce-free preset creation
Published Nov 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Shortcodes Ultimate 5.12.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to store malicious JavaScript via forged requests. The ajax_add_preset() handler accepts the settings parameter without nonce validation, then saves insufficiently sanitized preset data that is later rendered without adequate escaping. Exploitation requires a site administrator to visit attacker-controlled content or follow a crafted link, after which the stored script executes when an affected page is opened.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
