Service interruption via unrestricted avatar uploads
Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in ToolJet before 1.27.0 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service through oversized avatars. The users.controller.ts addAvatar handler forwards file.buffer to usersService.addAvatar without validating file.size against a maximum. Any logged-in user can reach the route, and concurrent oversized uploads can exhaust resources and make the instance unavailable without exposing or altering application data.
