CVE-2022-41089Network attack vector

Code execution via unsafe XPS type instantiation

Published Dec 13, 2022 · Updated May 27, 2026

Code injection in Microsoft .NET WPF XPS parsing allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code when a user opens a crafted XPS file. RestrictiveXamlXmlReader relies on a deny list that permits unexpected XAML types to be instantiated, enabling an object gadget chain during document parsing. The affected path is limited to Windows WinForms or WPF applications; applications that do not use either framework and non-Windows targets are unaffected.
