Mark of the Web bypass in Microsoft Windows allows remote attackers to suppress file-origin warnings through a crafted ZIP archive. Windows fails to propagate the Mark of the Web to a read-only file extracted from an Internet-sourced ZIP archive, so the embedded file opens without its expected security warning. Exploitation requires a user to download and open the crafted archive and then open its embedded file, enabling payload delivery with limited loss of integrity and availability protections.
