Remote code execution via malicious SQL server packet
Published Nov 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Remote code execution in Microsoft ODBC Driver on affected Windows releases allows remote attackers to run code via a malicious SQL server. Microsoft discloses only that a malicious network packet returned by the server reaches the ODBC client; the exact parsing defect is not public. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to be tricked into initiating the ODBC connection, after which code executes on that client.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
