Authenticated command execution via unbounded description formatting
Published Jan 26, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Siretta QUARTZ-GOLD G5.0.1.5-210720-141020 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. DetranCLI passes the unrestricted description WORD from the port triger command to sprintf, which writes it into a 128-byte stack buffer without a length bound. High-privilege access to the network-facing CLI and a crafted request sequence are required; successful exploitation runs arbitrary commands on the router.
