Authenticated command execution via unchecked CLI argument
Published Jan 26, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Siretta QUARTZ-GOLD G5.0.1.5-210720-141020 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. The DetranCLI handler for the no firmwall keyword command passes attacker-controlled WORD values to sprintf in a fixed 128-byte stack buffer without checking their lengths. Administrative CLI access is required; a crafted command can overwrite the stack and execute code with the router service's privileges.
