CVE-2022-40977Network attack vector

Arbitrary file writes via unsafe archive extraction

Published Nov 24, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025

Path traversal in Pilz PASvisu Server before 1.12.0 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files via a malicious zipped configuration. The server extracts attacker-controlled archive entry paths without confining resolved destinations to the configuration directory. The upload requires no authentication; the same server component affects PMI v507/v512 through 1.3.58, PMI v704e/v707e before 2.2.0, and PMI v807/v812/v815 before 1.6.102, with file integrity as the only stated impact.
