User enumeration via password-reset response discrepancy
Published Oct 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
User enumeration in NeDi 1.0.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to identify valid accounts through the web password-reset utility. The forgot-password workflow returns a distinct no-usernames-associated message for an email address that has no account, while valid input produces different behavior. No authentication is required; enumerated accounts can support password brute-force attempts, while the demonstrated flaw discloses account validity only.
